A few of my favorite things...

Today I'm sharing a few of my favorite things.

1. Princess Pea Quilt


I ran across this princess pea blanket tutorial at the Moda Bake Shop. Is it too cute, or what? I'm going to have to make this someday.


2. Happy Bee flannel fabric


I have been in love with this bee fabric forever. Doesn't it just make you smile?


3. Yule Trees flannel fabric - NEW!


My sister, owner of The Dizzy Daizy shop on Etsy, carries a fabulous selection of Michael Miller cotton fabric. The Yule Trees has always been one of my favorites. My sister informed me today that the Yule Trees are now available in flannel! I ordered it immediately. It will be available late July. I can't wait!

Quilt Festival

Park City Girl is holding a blogging quilt festival. I can participate in a quilt festival if I've only created one quilt, right? Well, I really only did the quilt top. The real quilter ladies did the rest. Here's the story:

After having 3 boys, I found out number 4 was a girl. I immediately went shopping. Then I began planning the nursery. I was all set to do bold, bright colors. One day, I happened upon a quilting magazine (I can't remember which one, sorry!) which had the perfect vintage-style nursery bedding. Love at first sight. The instructions said it was "easy", so I dove right in. Never mind that I'd never quilted before. This looked fun! My sister came to visit one weekend, and she inspired me to "close your eyes and sew!" OK, not literally, but the point was, stop thinking so much, and SEW!!! I finished the quilt top, and then my mother-in-law's sister offered to do the quilting and binding. ANGEL!

The quilt now hangs above my daughter's big-girl bed. I still love it.

Intro to My Obsession

It all started with a plastic tote full of fabric. I had a rule: I could not have more than one tote full of fabric. If the tote got full, I had to make something out of the fabric before I could buy more. I guess the "I must have that fabric!" part of my brain didn't listen to the rule that the "responsible" part of my brain had declared. Once my stash exceeded one tote-full, I had to come up with a "responsible" course of action. Thus the online fabric store was born. It really is the perfect setup for me. I get to buy the fabric, knowing it will end up with one of my customers who will make it into something beautiful.

I am amazed by the creativity and talent that is out there. I want to use this blog to collect ideas and tutorials for the projects that I hope to get to someday. And maybe I'm secretly hoping that I will pass my fabric obsession on to you!
